NPR reported that several voters received last-minute challenges in their mail ballot applications. Many netizens thought that sharing multiple images on social media could prevent them being deleted. One of the tweets (@Ana4evalove), shared by an anonymous user, had a caption which read:
REPOST THESE IMAGES. Continue sharing. Continue reposting. TRUMP CHEATED.
Heckel, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Department of State, confirmed this. Heckel, the spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Department of State confirmed the same.
These challenges at the last minute sparked a “Trump cheated’ trend on social media.
“Raise your hands if you believe #TrumpCheated.”
“Me like every tweet that says #TrumpCheated,” tweeted a user.
“Trump f*cking cheated. Another user wrote: “It’s obvious and the og pictures were taken down.”
The hashtag was used by many other users shortly after the results had been announced. Screenshots of the results went viral. A user tweeted:
“KEEP POSTING, KEEP PROTESTING. THEY NEED TO HEAR US AND RECOUNT EVERY MISSING BALLOT #TrumpCheated.”
“Keep this going, everyone helps. #TrumpCheated,” said a user.
While many alleged that the former President cheated during the election, his supporters defended him via social media. They claimed that one application was not enough to prove he cheated. Further, they claimed that the screenshot of the viral application was not clear as to whether it had been rejected or not.
Donald Trump raised questions about the voting process in the Philadelphia
Amid the Presidential election chaos, the Republican candidate came up with an allegation against the voting process in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He claimed that “mass cheating’ had taken place in the city. When the Democratic Party appeared to be in the lead in many places within the city the former president alleged “mass fraud.” The former President wrote on his Truth Social platform:
There is much talk about massive cheating. “Law enforcement is coming!”
According to The Economic Times, Philadelphia officials have denied the claims. They also described the Republican candidate’s statement as “yet another instance of disinformation.” District Attorney Larry Krasner stated:
There is no basis for this outrageous allegation within the law enforcement community”
Seth Bluestein is also a Republican and has denied the accusations. He said in a press release:
This allegation is completely false. “Voting in Philadelphia was safe and secure”
Additionally, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro told CNN that the claims were baseless in nature. Shapiro, who previously held the position of state attorney general, mentioned his successful defense against 43 legal challenges to the 2020 vote count brought by Trump and his supporters.
As per reports by The Economic Times, the Republican politician was asked about his response in case he lost this year, to which he said:
“If I lose an election, if it’s a fair election, I would be the first one to acknowledge it. So far, I believe it has been fair”
The Associated Press declared the race after Donald Trump received 295 electoral vote, making him 47th President of the United States.
