Jen’s warmth and understanding were evident in every interaction, whether she was advocating for seniors or supporting our homeless community. She had many professional achievements, but she remained grounded in her commitment to serve others.

Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey said that he is “devastated by the sudden death of Giattino” and remembers her as:

Jen, a loving wife, mother to three children, and dedicated council member who loved the community, was in public service because she had all the right motives.

Jen Giattino did not have any experience in the world of politics before serving in Hoboken’s City Council

Giattino was a part of Hoboken’s City Council for around 13 years. Angelo Giacchi, a former Sixth Ward Councilman, revealed that she was first elected as a councilwoman back in 2011. At the time Mayor Dawn Zimmer supported her. She talked about the changes that she wanted to make as the President of Hoboken City Council. This included construction efforts to repair a sinkhole on the Sinatra Soccer Field.

Despite winning the same position two years earlier, she lost when she ran for it again. Jen Giattino returned to the Hoboken council presidency after a break of three years in January 2024 when she was unanimously elected by her colleagues.

She expressed her happiness at the time by saying that she was waiting to work with everyone alongside the residents of Hoboken to solve the issues that still exist. Jen Giattino was married to Joe Giattino and had three children. She ran a small business online and volunteered for different organizations. Jen also posted photos from parades and events she attended on Instagram. Some of the photos featured her dog.
