When does Trump get sworn in? Inauguration day in 2024: What we know about it so far

After defeating US Vice President Kamala Harris for a second time, Donald Trump won a second term as US President. Donald won the election by getting at least 270 electoral votes, which is required to be elected president. The new president will be sworn in two weeks after the election results are announced at the US Capitol building in Washington D.C. Each year, thousands of voters gather to witness the ceremony as the next President of the United States assumes office. According to a report by USA TODAY, the US Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., is hosting the next inauguration on January 20, 2025. On this date every four years, Inauguration day is celebrated. If January 20 is a Sunday, the day will be moved to January 21.

Normally the outgoing President attends the swearing in ceremony. The current president-elect, however, skipped Inauguration day and returned to Florida in 2021, without shaking hands Joe Biden who defeated him during that campaign.
