This will be The Handmaid’s Tale

After Donald Trump’s victory at the 2024 Presidential election, on November 6,

The phrase “Project 2025”, is once again trending in online after Donald Trump won. The Heritage Foundation, an American conservative think-tank, published the project in April 2023. It aims to promote conservative and right-wing ideologies as well as restructure federal government under Donald Trump’s leadership. Netizens have expressed their concerns about Project 2025 being a reality in the wake of Wednesday’s Republican victory.
“For the people who said Project 2025 wasn’t possible bc of checks and balances…republican president, republican senate, republican house, republican supreme court. This will be the “handmaid’s story.”

Many people joined the conversation on the platform and expressed similar concerns.
A person wrote: “I won’t comply with Project 2025.”
“That’s exactly what I’ve feared for years.” “This could actually happen in the near-future,” I’ve thought so many times as I’ve watched The Handmaid’s Tale. Not everything, but many things. One person wrote: “It’s truly frightening.”

Another writer wrote: “Fantasy is so close to becoming reality that it’s frightening.”
A user said: “This is going to be the worst 4 years for women. I am genuinely distraught.”

Others pointed out that Donald Trump never supported the manifesto, and he will not implement it.
“Still pushing the Project 2025 gimmick, lmao. You are not serious,” wrote a user on Twitter.
Did you notice that he repeatedly said he did not support the 2025 plan?” “Or did you choose not to acknowledge it?” a netizen asked.

A person wrote: “At what stage will you realize that Project 2025 isn’t real?”
The Project 2025 plan is now debunked 500 times. “Come harder,” said another.

Notably Donald Trump has not publicly endorsed this conservative manifesto. During the election campaign, Trump’s campaign presented a similar document called Agenda47. Agenda47 proposes policies that will be implemented by the President-elect when he takes office in January 2025. While some of it might require Congressional approval, others could be implemented through executive orders from the President.

All you need to know about Project 2025

Project 2025 or the 2025 Presidential Transition Project is a 900-page manifesto published by the right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation in 2023. NPR called it a

“Conservative guidebook for expanding presidential powers and restructuring the federal workforce to replace it with partisan loyalty.”
The document, which included 30 essays, provided legal steps that Trump could take to implement his policy goals, along with transition and recruitment plans, to help him to avoid mistakes made by his administration during his first term at the Oval Office. The document also outlined how to address “moral and fundamental challenges America faces at this time in history.” The current president-elect has distanced himself. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform in July 2024:

I know nothing about Project 2025. I don’t know who is behind the project. I don’t agree with everything they say, and some things are ridiculous. “I wish them good luck in whatever they do. But I am not involved with them.”

Throughout the entire election cycle, Democrats attempted to link Trump with the 2025 Presidential Transition Project. James Singer, Joe Biden’s spokesperson, told the media that the 2025 Presidential Transition Project was a project they were working on.
“248 years ago tomorrow America declared independence from a tyrannical king, and now Donald Trump and his allies want to make him one at our expense.”

The Heritage Foundation too cleared the air that the 2025 Presidential Transition Project was not the game plan for a potential second term of Donald Trump, but rather “recommendations” from conservatives, adding it was “ultimately up to” the President.
