James Cameron confirmed (via video) at D23 Brazil earlier today that Avatar Fire & Ash is officially in post production. Five beautiful pieces of concept artwork have been released since (via SFFGazette.com), giving us a better understanding of the new areas of Pandora that we will explore in the next chapter of Cameron’s epic sci fi saga. Cameron said that the Ash People reflect the worst of N’avi. He may have taken inspiration from reality, when he stated, “We live in a world of rage and anger.” The threequel’s new N’avi tribe, the Ash People, will travel by air and be nomadic. However, they are resentful of nature and the forest Na’vi’s beliefs. “

; while Cameron originally planned for them to be one movie, he soon realised that there was too much material and expanded the story across parts two and three (a fourth instalment is also in development). In the threequel, Jake and Neytiri will encounter the “Ash People,” a new clan of Na’vi, though that’s really all we have in terms of official plot details right now.Cameron has devoted his career to the Avatar
franchise for close to two decades now and, for fans of the ambitious sci-fi franchise, exploring more of Pandora is an exciting prospect. And for Disney, it likely means another massive box office hit next Christmas.
Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones) plays the leader of the Ash People, Varang. David Thewlis, Michelle Yeoh, and Stephen Lang will also be joining the cast, along with returning stars Sam Worthington and Zeo Saldana. Other actors include Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis.
